On March 24, the Bethlehem Museum featured a photography exhibition: Romero: Voice and Look of the Museum of the Word and Image (MUPI), of El Salvador. And the screening of the documentaries: “Remembering Romero,” and “Romero: Voice of the Voiceless.”

His Holiness Pope Francis declared Oscar Romero of El Salvador a martyr February of this year, the same month that he announced the upcoming canonization of two Palestinian nuns, Blessed Mary Alphonsine Danil Ghattas and Blessed Mary of Jesus Crucified Baouardy.

In attendance at the event were: HE Rula Ma’ayah , the Palestinian Minister of Tourism; HE Suzan Hasenson, Ambassador of the Republic of El Salvador, Counselor Mali Ortega of the Embassy of El Salvador; and Mr. Fayez Hazboun, Senior Coordinator at the Office of consular Liaison of the Republic of El Salvador.

HCEF values its relationship with El Salvador and its people. 80,000 Diaspora Palestinians from Bethlehem live in El Salvador, and they are involved in the highest levels of government, business, manufacturing and other aspects of life.
